Festival

The folks at the Anima Festival, the International Animation Film Festival of Brussels, are already busy working on the next edition, which will take place from 28 February to 9 March 2014 in Flagey. Right now, they are looking for both short and long animated films for the various competitions. There are no restrictions on style or subject matter and student films are eligible too. The only condition is that the film must have been made after 30 June 2012.

You can apply at www.animafestival.be, where you can consult the full rules. The deadline for registration is 1 October 2013.

Le festival urbain Plazey dépoussière son image néerlandophone en s’ouvrant davantage à la communauté internationale qui vit autour du Parc Élisabeth. Le pari semblait réussi dès dimanche dernier avec de la boxe pour enfants de plus de 6 ans grâce à la Brussels Boxing Academy.

Le Brussels Film Festival n’est pas Cannes ou Berlin, ni même San Sebastián ou Londres, soyons parfaitement honnêtes. Mais tout est réuni pour vivre une belle fête du cinéma à Flagey : des invités prestigieux, des projections en plein air, des concerts, une chouette place, des cafés, des restaurants, la belle saison (espérons-le) et un paquebot rempli de films.

À Schaerbeek, ce dimanche, Les Halles font la fête à leurs voisins en ouvrant grand les portes et en sortant dans la rue. Au programme, des ateliers pour enfants, du cirque, de la danse et de la musique avec des artistes qui viennent de la porte d’à côté et d’un peu plus loin.

Le KVS termine une saison exceptionnelle avec un concert de The Muzicien(ne)s et une soirée, le tout précédé par un large retour sur leur projet urbain en trois parties Tok Toc Knock. Willy Thomas, qui a préparé et coordonné Tok Toc Knock ces deux dernières saisons, revient sur le travail de cette année.

Festi’Konkoba is inviting you to experience Africa for two days with artists from various West African countries, with a carnival, an artisanal market, concerts, workshops, and cinema.

The biannual Working Title Platform mini-festival presents nine events at the Kaaistudios and in the Brigittines. The work-in-progress performances, installations, and talks are the fruit of workspacebrussels residencies. “The artists believe it is of the utmost importance to get gut reactions from the audience.”

 

Two neighbouring yet very different worlds reaching out to each other, that's just what the cross-disctricts Matonge-Europe Festival is about. The initiative of GC Elzenhof, Kuumba, the Brussels-Europe Liaison Office and t.r.a.n.s.i.t.s.c.a.p.e intends to boost encounters between residents and users of Matonge and the European quarter. Until 9 June the two communities will meet during a city itinerary, a parade, a concert, a bal moderne, a freestyle football tournament, and a forum about the clichés that make up the differences installed by invisible borders.

Today, from 6 to 8 pm the colourful, jovial, noisy, and mixed Frites Sauce Manioc parade (starting at Kuumba, rue de la Paix 35) will be officially opening the festival!!

Tijdens het 66e Festival van Cannes regende het goede films. Dat net iets minder films dan verhoopt uitstekend waren, werd goedgemaakt door het uitzonderlijke La vie d’Adèle. Deze zinderende, zinnelijke liefdesfilm van Abdellatif Kechiche won de Gouden Palm.
