La foire d’art Fotofever, dont la deuxième édition se tiendra du 4 au 6 octobre prochains, est à la recherche de jeunes talents pour son Fotoprize annuel. Cette compétition est destinée à des ex-étudiants en photographie qui viennent de sortir l’an dernier ou qui ont obtenu leur diplôme après 2008. L’année passée, ce fut au tour de la polonaise Anna Orlowska de sortir gagnante du concours (voir photo). La récompense n’est pas des moindres : le(a) gagnant(e) a droit à une expo solo dans l’édition bruxelloise à Tour & Taxis, comme dans celle parisienne au Carrousel du Louvre (15-17 novembre), en plus de la publication de son portfolio dans un magazine et un site internet spécialisés en art. Museum Night Fever, the annual event in which museums stay open until 1 am and treat their guests to tours, workshops, parties, and concerts, is looking for young artistic talent for the next edition on 22 February 2014. The organisers are looking for beginning artists, artists in training, or just any creative young people between 16 and 35 years old who would like to perform a concert, act, or production on that night. La Verrière, l’espace galerie qui se trouve à l’arrière de la boutique Hermès boulevard de Waterloo, a depuis peu un nouveau directeur, le curateur français Guillaume Désanges. Avec Des gestes de la pensée, il nous propose une exposition qui en même temps sert de teaser de ce que nous pouvons attendre de sa programmation.

Ils sont quatre-vingt. 40 artistes contemporains et 40 dessinateurs de bandes dessinées à s’être emmêlé les pinceaux, les pastels et les crayons dans des oeuvres réalisées à deux et présentées à Bruxelles dans l’exposition Quelques instants plus tard, après Paris, Angoulême et Perpignan.

La photographie joue – comme chez de nombreux peintres – un rôle important dans l’oeuvre de Matthew Crasner. Bien que l’artiste ne prenne pas toujours comme point de départ des photos existantes, son travail présente un aspect très photographique.

Le Corbusier is undoubtedly one of the most influential architects of the 20^th century. Dozens of exhibitions have highlighted various aspects of his oeuvre. For the first time, however, “The Constructed Image: Le Corbusier and Photography” is examining his relationship with photography.

Don't give us that bored couple look! Have we got some spectacular news for you. Galerie Paris-Beijing has invited the British Magnum photographer Martin Parr for an exhibition at the Hôtel Winssinger in Saint-Gilles. Some sixty photographs have been selected from five of his famous series zooming in on our very human vulgarities and eccentricities, such as Small World, Luxury, Common Sense, Bored Couples, and The Last Resort. The chronicler of everyday life will be in Brussels for the opening on 29 May (at 6 pm). The exhibition will run until 27 July.

Fotografe en beeldhouwster Alexandra Cool begon in 2004 met het portretteren van schrijvers. Cool is daarbij vooral geïnteresseerd in het in beeld brengen van de schrijfactiviteit zelf. Met een camera obscura – waarbij een belichtingstijd van een half uur nodig is – verschijnt de schrijver op de foto als een tijdloze geest. Onder de titel Moments of writing verscheen in 2010 bij Lannoo een bundeling van dergelijke portretten van binnen- en buitenlandse auteurs als Tom Lanoye, Eva Gerlach, David Van Reybrouck, Stefan Hertmans, Jonathan Coe, Gwyneth Lewis en Richard Powers. De gelijknamige tentoonstelling bij Westrand toont nog tot 26 mei de originelen. De expo van Alexandra Cool is een van de haltes bij het artistiek-literaire parcours hemelVAART. Tot 20 mei kun je meefietsen of -wandelen langs een route die de expo van Cool verbindt met de expo Authors van schilder Sam Dillemans in het Kasteel van Gaasbeek. Onderweg worden de bezoekers verrast met kunstwerken van leerlingen van verschillende academies uit de omgeving, gemaakt onder begeleiding van kunstenaars waaronder Alexandra Cool zelf. Op Hemelvaartsdag zelf (9 mei) wordt er een begeleide en geanimeerde fietstocht langs het parcours georganiseerd.
